Skimo Community,
We are so excited at the turn out for the first Citizen Series race yesterday, Jan 14th at Mt Norquay Ski Resort. Teha in Marketing and JT in Snow Safety have been big proponents of skimo racing and partnership with the association to make it happen.
We had just shy of 70 racers last night. Everyone from National Team racers to first time beginners and the sentiments from many racers was that it was such a fun, albeit type 2 fun, event and everyone was so welcoming.
Huge shout out to Becca and Michelle that skinned up the course earlier in the week with JT to map out the course and look for where to build the transition platforms. They also spent a few hours last evening with Matt Ruta adding flagging and putting in the boot pack.
Sam, from SkiUphill was awesome at arranging timing and Marika and Clem helped with registration and cheering on along the course.
If you are just getting into skimo racing check out our resources section with lots of great advice for training and courses from skintrack.com.
We’ll upload the results shortly. Next race is on January 28th and we are looking at having a clinic a little before the race but stay tuned so we can confirm.

If you have any images please tag @skimo_alberta on Instagram and we’d love to share them out.
Don’t forget to register for the next race here https://zone4.ca/event/2023/B93C1492/.
If you want to take out any of the skimo race skis, you can reserve them on SkiUphill’s website for a $20 donation to Skimo Alberta and pick them up the night before and return the day after. Check out “Skimo Demos” on their website, http://www.skiuphill.ca. They also have CAMP race packs to use for boot packing.
Thank you all and see you on the 28th,
Skimo Alberta
