It’s this Saturday, January 25th!
What is the Citizen Series? It is a great introductory format for skiers who are interested in skimo racing. It’s a great workout for beginners and experts alike. Race duration is 60 minutes, and each lap will have you skin, bootpack and ski on a course that features approximately 150 metres of elevation gain.

On the 25th, the course will go up the side of “Abracadabra” by the Spirit chair (expect some sections to be in the forest). The skiing part will also take place on the other side of Abracadabra. This is a blue/green groomer, so no need to be the best skier on the mountain to race!
What is the mandatory equipment?
– A pair of alpine touring or telemark skis or a splitboard with skins and poles.
– A helmet. It doesn’t have to be a ski helmet as long as it protects your head.
– A backpack equipped with a ski-carry system. For safety reasons, we ask every racer to carry their skis on their pack for the bootpacking section.
– A headlamp
At what time does the race start? Race starts at 6:30 at the bottom of the Spirit Chair at Mt. Norquay. Registration and bib pick-up will be open from 5 PM to 6 PM.

How much does it cost? Registrations is $25. This includes the uphill pass for the night and a $10 voucher at the day lodge for food after the race.
Can I rent skis for the race? Absolutely. In collaboration with SkiUphill, we have a demo fleet of skimo race skis. These are popular on race day, so make sure to give us a heads up ahead of time. It is also possible to rent regular alpine touring skis for the evening. You will have to bring your own boots and ski poles. It is possible to rent AT boots in Calgary at the U of C Outdoor Centre or at MEC or in Canmore at Gear Up Sports. Send us an e-mail at info@skimoalberta.com to reserve skis.
Where can I sign up? Right here!
See you all on Saturday night!
